The session will examine the creation, management and preservation of documentation generated by other tourist facilities —such as water parks, campsites, bars and restaurants, nightclubs and theme parks. These spaces, essential to the development of the Mediterranean tourism model, have produced a documentary heritage that is often fragile, dispersed and still insufficiently studied. The session aims to address conservation challenges, research opportunities and management experiences within these sectors.

The discussion will address the value of documentary collections generated by hotel establishments and will explore strategies to ensure their preservation, accessibility and dissemination. The debate will bring together the perspective of public archives, which face technical and regulatory challenges, with the experience of hotels that safeguard their own documentation, often fragile and poorly structured. The session will also consider the potential of these collections for historical, tourism-related and territorial research. The ultimate aim is to identify realistic models of cooperation that enable the preservation and study of this heritage.

The session will propose an approach to the construction and dissemination of the image of tourist destinations through photography, advertising and institutional and corporate communication. It will explore the role of major visual archives —aerial, advertising and photographic— in shaping a collective imagination that has decisively influenced perceptions of tourism. The discussion will consider public promotion policies, the circulation of images produced by private companies and their role in the creation of territorial brands. It will also examine the importance of preserving these often dispersed collections in order to understand the evolution of the tourist landscape and the narratives associated with travel and the consumption of images.
